The Accelerator Architecture team focuses on VEC/MATRIX architecture and potential CPU/Scalar architecture. The team will define the VPU and MPU architecture, with all micro-architecture choices, using performance, power, and area analysis. This involves providing design guidelines to the SoC team tailored for the specific application.

Responsibilities

Research and develop novel micro-architectures and designs for high-performance matrix/tensor processing units, enabling efficient software execution.

Architect the next generation of high-performance AI accelerators, considering hardware capabilities and software requirements.

Drive software-hardware co-design efforts to optimize system performance and efficiency for AI workloads.

Support development of optimized architectures to improve Performance-Power-Area (PPA) while integrating customer requirements and software implications.

Evaluate the architectural implementation of VPU and MPU designs to meet performance targets and power constraints, facilitating software utilization.

Assist in seamless integration of VPU/ MPU with a scalar CPU, addressing data transfer bottlenecks and considering software interface and programming models.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in CPU, MPU (Matrix Processing Unit), or SoC design with emphasis on accelerator architectures and software-hardware co-design.

Experience in R&D of matrix/tensor unit designs for AI acceleration with understanding of software implications.

Deep understanding of scalar and vector processor architectures relevant to AI/ML and how software interacts with them.

Knowledge of multi-core and many-core accelerator design, including software parallelization and programming.

Familiarity with RISC-V architecture and its use in accelerator design (hardware and software aspects).

Experience with functional and performance simulators for architecture exploration and verification, including modeling of software workloads.

Ability to analyze and optimize performance, power, and area trade-offs for AI accelerators and their software ecosystem.

Experience architecting high-performance AI accelerators with emphasis on software programmability and performance.

Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, ONNX) and how they map onto hardware architectures.
